The Mod Units Story
Mod Units is the brainchild of founder George Robb, who has a reputation for having a head for innovative thinking and a heart for community. That combination drives him to always look for ways to improve his community. After many years of experience in the construction industry, George saw a problem in need of solutions: the severe lack of quality, affordable housing.
After glancing at a pile of steel frames, George got an idea. Those steel frames sparked the concept for a game-changing production process. That process creates quality, affordable prefabricated housing that also exceed storm mitigation standards. Now that concept is reality.
The Mod Units Process
Beginning with the highest quality steel available on the market, precision robotic technology cuts and welds the frames for what will become an 1100 square foot new home that also exceeds recommended storm mitigation standards.
Once the framing for the new home is complete, we install everything your new home needs–flooring, plumbing, electrical systems, appliances, and air conditioning. All of this is done inside our facility, prior to shipping.
Completed units are loaded onto a tractor-trailer rig and transported to the job site. Our units are slightly wider than standard shipping containers, so they require an “oversized load” designation, but not an escort vehicle, another cost-savings benefit.
Upon arrival at the job site, units are unloaded, expanded to full size (in a way that is similar to expandable RVs or camping trailers), and fastened together and onto the foundation.
Mod Units prefabricated homes require approximately 2 hours to set up and to connect plumbing and electrical systems. Our prefabricated homes are ready for families to move in, often the same day.
